Solscape Eco Retreat is situated in Raglan on the beautiful West Coast of New Zealand's North Island. Our Raglan backpackers accommodation is two hours south of Auckland and overlooks the world famous surf break of Manu Bay and Ocean Beach. Just 15 minutes walk to both.

We are excited to offer accommodation in Raglan where we have boldly incorporated our philosophy of environmental sustainability with many eco features.

You can enjoy a stay in one of our Contemporary Eco Baches, high in style and low in environmental impact, experience eco living nestled amongst the native bush in our "off the grid" Tipi Retreat or stay in one of our recycled NZ railway carriages or self contained cottages.

Our accommodation in Raglan includes:

Cabooses – We have 12 authentic, recycled NZ railways carriages and cabooses – ideal for surfers, backpackers and family groups. Choose between our large fully self contained carriage or smaller double, twin and shared cabooses with communal facilities.

Self Contained Cottages – Our eclectic range of self contained Raglan accommodation includes our brand new Contemporary Eco Baches constructed entirely of untreated and recycled native timbers and earth bricks.

Tipis – A 5-minute bush walk takes you to the tipi retreat with four double, one twin and a larger tipi sleeping four. Each site is nestled in the bush for maximum privacy.

Visit Solscape's in-house surf school where we pride ourselves on offering expert lessons and fun times for any level of surfer. Let us introduce you to the world of surfing and it's unique etiquette and giving you a glimpse into how we live as Raglan surfers. Come experience what it means to be a Solsurfer living on "Raglan Time".

Lead by Andrew Swinton, an International Surfing Association qualified coach with many years experience teaching in NZ and Europe, our team of instructors operate with the highest regards for your safety while also ensuring that you have tonnes of fun while improving your surf skills. Warning: You may never want to leave this very special time zone and lifestyle!

We offer range of lessons and surf packages that suits your skill level and time-frame. We are also happy to design surf retreats for individuals or groups that want to combine a stay with a unique surf experience, plus options to include other wellness and fun activities. A range of boards and wetsuits are also for hire. Whether you want just a few hours to longer rental deals we will match you up with the right gear.
