The Helicopter Line Introduction

The Helicopter Line operates with a fleet of modern turbine helicopters offering scenic helicopter tours in New Zealand, based at Mount Cook, Franz Josef Glacier, Fox Glacier and Queenstown.

Our fleet consists predominantly of AS350 Squirrels. These helicopters are ideal for scenic flights as they offer an open plan cabin, which makes for excellent views.

The Helicopter Line has the highest level of Civil Aviation Authority certification for scenic helicopter flights in New Zealand, this involves regular monitoring and audit of all aspects of our operations.

The Helicopter Line – Franz Josef and Fox Glacier

The Helicopter Line at Franz Josef and Fox Glacier on the West Coast of the South Island offer a truly amazing glacier experience. A New Zealand scenic helicopter flight uncovers extraordinary colours of the ice formations and tracks the path of the glacier before a snow landing in the remote alpine environment.

For the fitter traveller we also offer the famous Franz Josef Heli Hike. This combines two awesome helicopter flights over the glacier with a two-hour hike amongst glacial ice formations—time to explore the ice caves, pinnacles and seracs up close.

The Helicopter Line – Mt Cook

At Mt Cook, The Helicopter Line offers flights around New Zealand's highest mountain, Aoraki / Mt Cook, in the Mt Cook National Park. Amazing hanging glaciers, vast snowfields and mountains combine to overpower the visitor to this region. Traversing the Southern Alps reveals the wild West Coast and the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers.
