North Canterbury Earthquake 2016
At 12.02am on the 14th of November 2016, an earthquake occurred in North Canterbury - specifically 15km north-east of the rural town of Culverden.
This quake, along with a series of aftershocks, caused damage mainly around the Kaikoura region and surrounding rural areas. While there has been some damage to buildings, infrastructure such as roading in and out of some areas were affected.

Note: While the earthquake was felt in Christchurch, no major damages were reported and it's business as usual for the city and surrounding areas.
