Whangaparaoa is a stunning town on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula and lies north within the Auckland city limits. 'Whangaparaoa' is Maori for "Bay of Whales" as pods of orca and dolphin are regularly spotted in the waters off the Whangaparaoa Peninsula.
