Maketu
Maketu is a small, coastal town in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand with historical significance as it was the landing place of the Te Arawa canoe, which carried some of the first Maori people from Hawaiki. Attractions in Maketu include horse-riding, swimming, boating and fishing. In winter, the area is a popular spot to catch whitebait.
