Christchurch East Free Visitor Attractions
Christchurch East compromises the eastern suburbs of Christchurch as well as Christchurch’s beachfront. Christchurch East was hit particularly hard by the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes and some suburbs were demolished and returned to parkland. Christchurch East boasts many beautiful suburbs including the seaside suburb of Brighton.
Bottle Lake Forest Park is an exotic pine forest of approximately 800 hectares. It is a lovely place for a walk on a hot or windy day as the tracks are almost all entirely in the shade.
Travis Wetlands are a tranquil and beautiful oasis in North East Christchurch. Explore the Millennium Forest, first planted in 2000. Tall tussock sedges and rushes bordering the pond are already starting to seed and spread naturally, while seedlings of future forest giants (Totara, Kahikatea, Matai) are planted here. Travis Wetlands is a place of beauty, tranquility and inspiration.
