Kerikeri Free Visitor Attractions
The historic town of Kerikeri is located in the beautiful Bay of Islands. Here it is impossible to escape the lure of the sea. You can catch a ferry or charter a boat; you can paddle a sea kayak in and out of island nooks and crannies; or you can simply relax on a beautiful white sand beach. Rainbow Falls is a popular local attraction, or you can shop to your heart's content in the boutique shops.
Enjoy amazing views of the Kerikeri River, Kerikeri Basin and the historic Stone Store from the historic Kororipo Pa. The Kororipo Pa Historic Walk starts in the Kerikeri Basin, across the carpark from the Stone Store; it can also be accessed from the St James Church lower carpark.
The Hongi Hika track links Kororipo Pa with Kerikeri and Hone Heke Roads. Walk through gum trees and regenerating native forest to Kororipo Pa. The pa served as Hongi Hika’s coastal fortified settlement and played an important role in New Zealand’s musket war campaigns.
