Waikato Surf Schools and Surfing Lessons

If you are looking for the thrill of riding the waves at a world class surfing spot, then Waikato is the place to be. Home to the surfing beaches of Raglan - New Zealand's most famous surf location - Waikato surf spots offer consistent conditions for surfers - with small waves for beginners through to huge waves for the world-class professional surfer. If you want to learn to surf, or hone your existing surfing skills, then Waikato Surf Schools are the place to start. more

Some surf schools offer surfboards to hire for your convenience. Some also offer private training sessions for advanced surfers, and small classes for beginners learning to surf. Surf schools teach more than just surfing, they also teach water safety, etiquette and ocean awareness, all within a fun and safe environment.

For those learning to surf, the long, flat, sandy bottomed Ngaranui Beach is the ideal surf beach for beginners. If you can brave the cold, then surfers can enjoy consistently great surfing conditions for novices through to intermediate surfers all year round. Manu Bay and Whale Bay are two other great surf beaches at Raglan, with left hand point breaks that break from 200 - 300m. Manu Bay is not a safe surfing spot for learners however, with large waves and dangerous rocks, it is only for skilled surfers.

Always be safe, and surf only within the safety flags and patrolled beaches.
