Wanaka Town Mexican Takeaways

Wanaka is a popular township located on the southern banks of Lake Wanaka in Otago on the South Island. It is Otago’s second largest resort town and enjoys a lively, but less hectic buzz than neighbouring Queenstown 70km away (one hour’s drive). From the South Island gateway city of Christchurch, it takes just over six hours to drive to Wanaka (428km).

Wanaka first garnered interest when gold was discovered in the 1870s, but nowadays it is the lake, Mt Aspiring, Cardrona ski field, Puzzling World, International World Heli-Challenge and the bi-annual Wanaka Air Show that help attract thousands of visitors. more

Wanaka seasons have their own special appeal: spring means blossom, summer sees many cloudless hot, sunny days, autumn is a riot of red and golden colours and winter is clear, crisp and sunny.

The peaks of Mount Aspiring National Park create a stunning panorama around the lake and it's easy for hikers and non-hikers to explore the park. Other popular activities include: wine tours, visiting the Wanaka Beerworks, golf, fishing, café and restaurant dining, horse trekking, canyoning, mountain biking, sky diving, hiking, skiing and scenic flights.

Accommodation options in Wanaka include apartments, baches, backpackers, bed and breakfast stays, holiday homes, camping grounds, hotels and lodges.
