Karamea is a coastal town located some 100 kilometres north of Westport, on the wild West Coast. The Oparara Basin Arches, large natural river tunnels, are located in Karamea. Karamea is located 96km north-east of Westport and is the northern most settlement of a reasonable size on the West Coast.
