New Zealand Tourism Online Again Takes People's Choice Tourism Award

For the third year running, the Telecom People's Choice Award at Wednesday night's New Zealand Tourism Industry Awards has been won by leading tourism website New Zealand Tourism Online (NZTO - www.tourism.net.nz).

NZTO also won the award for the Communication and Information Services category for the second year in a row.

In addition to its run of success at the New Zealand Tourism Awards NZTO has been in the Deloitte/Unlimited Fast 50 fastest growing businesses for three years running. It is a leading source of holiday and tourism-related information for New Zealanders and visitors to New Zealand.

Earlier this week, Yellow Pages Group announced it had purchased NZTO as a further investment in its growing online business.

Yellow Pages Group General Manager Dudley Enoka said he was delighted at NZTO's success at the awards, which underlined the importance of online find-it services.

"Once again NZTO has been judged as one of New Zealand's leading tourism businesses. This further justifies our decision to invest in NZTO, its people and in the tourism market itself, which is so important to New Zealand."

NZTO was founded in 1997 by Christchurch entrepreneurs Mark Rocket and Cambel Ferguson. The pair will remain involved with NZTO strategy and management until March 2007.
