Takaka Hill is a range of hills located in the northwest of Nelson in the South Island of New Zealand.
Takaka Hill is composed of marble which has been weathered into many strange forms, with numerous sink holes. Takaka Hill rises about 791 metres above sea level.
Follow the road over Takaka Hill for stunning views of Golden Bay and access to the famous Abel Tasman Coastal Track. Below, the highway leads to to the green valley of the Takaka River, running north towards the distant sea.
The Takaka Hill Walkway takes you through fantastic marble landscapes and remnant forest.
Takaka Hill was filmed as Chetwood Forest in the Lord of the Rings.
