In 2005, 1400 Escallonia shrubs (a small leaved evergreen) were grown from cuttings. Transplanted onto our Rotorua maze site in December 2007, they have quickly grown to a height of 1.8 metre allowing this new venture to open 6 months ahead of schedule.

The object of our Rotorua maze is to find your way to the centre. Once in the maze you will find openings in the hedge which you may or may-not choose to go through.

In some places along the pathway of our Rotorua maze, there are permanent blocks, which mean you will have to retrace your steps if you wish to progress further into the maze.

Directly ahead as you enter our maze in Rotorua are a series of one-way doors, which can only be opened from inside. These are for a quick exit from the centre or from any path.

Our Visitors Say

I felt so inspired to support aMAZEme by writing a review after such a fantastic experience and wonderful genuine kiwi hospitality that is seriously streets ahead of others. Our children were catered for from the moment we walked in the door. Staff were awesome! The activities stretch way beyond the maze and as a family we had such a great time playing together. Thanks for such a great time!”

About Rotorua

Rotorua is an attractive city in the central North Island, just three hours' drive south of Auckland. It has been voted New Zealand's most beautiful city six times, in 1999, 2000, 2002, 2006, 2009 and again in 2010.

The scent of sulphur in the air is characteristic of Rotorua. At nearby geothermal hotspots, there are spouting geysers, boiling mud pools and warm geothermal springs. Silica terraces are naturally decorated with a kaleidoscope of colours.

Rotorua is the heartland of New Zealand Maori culture, and visitors have the opportunity to experience the warm spirit of Te Maori.

With regular daily scheduled bus services from all North Island regional centres and direct air services from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, Rotorua is very accessible.

So come and explore this diverse and unique region, and discover why people have been drawn here for over 150 years!
