There is an almost infinite number of tourism genres reflecting travellers' many and varied tastes and interests. The A-Z of tourism adjectives that find a natural home in New Zealand include: accessible, culinary, cultural, eco, extreme, fashion, garden, heritage, honeymoon, recreational, romantic, rural, scenic, sports, Tolkien, walking, wellness and even whale watching, to name just a few. There's nothing for 'z' just yet, unless we count 'zorbing tourism' ...but this month's newsletter will certainly appeal to anyone who has ever searched for travel inspiration around hobbits, fashion, fitness, extreme sports, fun and glow in the dark badminton!

Clicquot in the Snow 2018
Location: Queenstown
Date: 2 - 5 August
Celebrate life in the snow with bubbles! Clicquot in the Snow builds on both the local and international success which has seen this iconic winter experience become a must attend event. This will be the 8th year that Clicquot in the Snow has been held in the majestic resort town of Queenstown celebrating all things winter and fine champagne.

Glow in the Dark Badminton
Location: Waikato Badminton Association, 30 Old Farm Road, Hamilton, Waikato
Date: 5 August, 7-9pm
Granted, this is a very niche activity, but how could we not include it in this month's news, because we doubt many people are searching for it, or even heard of it before. So, it's mentioned here as inspiration for anyone interested in playing this most ancient of games in the most modern of ways.
Seems simple enough, get a team of 3-6 people together and have a few hours of fun dressed up in white or fluorescent clothing. Check out how they're doing it in Waikato.
Women's Lifestyle Expo
Location: ASB Baypark, 81 Truman Ln, Mt Maunganui, Bay of Plenty
Date: 25-26 August, 10am - 5pm
This event is just for women, but we're pretty sure that men can find plenty of other things to do! It's a two-day event for women of all ages featuring everything from jewellery and beauty to business products and information, crafts, fitness, food and wine sampling and more. There are over 140 companies talking about their products and services and the expo also includes a Vivo Hair Styling Lounge, Beauty Bar plus Taste Zone, NZ Craft Zone, Fashion Zone and goodie bags.
Vegan Vibes
Location: Soper Reserve, 95 Newton Street, Mount Maunganui, Bay of Plenty
Date: 22 September, 10am - 4pm
The Bay of Plenty's first dedicated Vegan festival is back this September and showcases a curated selection of vegan food, food products, body and leisure products, fashion, footwear and much more from around the country.
The event also includes guest speakers, workshops, giveaways, music and entertainment designed for whole family to enjoy. (U13s go free).
International Hobbit Day
Location: Hobbiton Movie Set
Date: 22 September
Celebrate your love of Hobbits with a special commemorative event with a guided tour of the Shire at dusk and enjoy the sights, smells, sounds and tastes of The Shire™, at the home of the Hobbits™. Wander the Marketplace, taste a real piece of the Shire from individually themed stalls bursting with traditional Hobbit fare and enjoy the roaming entertainment.
In the Green Dragon and the Party Marquee, buffet tables will be full of traditional Hobbit fare and as is the tradition in The Shire, second helpings are encouraged. Enjoy:

World of WearableArt
Location: TSB Arena, Queens Wharf, Wellington
Date: 27 September - 14 October
The World of WearableArt Awards have bedazzled audiences in New Zealand with their magic and ingenuity for 30 years. What began as a small local competition has grown to become WOW, a theatrical spectacle and magnet for extraordinary talent from around the world.
For three weeks every year, WOW showcases the best of these creations in a spectacular show that takes over New Zealand's vibrant capital city of Wellington in an explosion of creativity. This year 60,000 people will see the show.
Motatapu Trails Challenge
Location: Lake Wanaka, Otago
Date: 9 - 10 March 2019
Need another reason to visit Otago? Probably not, but if you have interest in fitness and triathlon, why not experience something you'll never forget? Register now. Be inspired. Start training! Elite athletes and characters from around the world are invited to enjoy the trails of the Motatapu for this once a year only event. This is one of New Zealand's favourite 'off road' sporting events where you can walk, run or ride through the stunning high country of Otago between Lake Wanaka and Queenstown. There are five different events to choose from and the vibe is social, friendly and relaxed.
