The historic Ongarahu Pa is one of the most well preserved defensive fortifications known in New Zealand. Walk through a waharoa (entrance shelter outside the pa), past palisades around a trench and across a bridge to enter the headland pa site. Parking, toilets, overnight campervan parking, dog friendly walkways.
