Two very popular scenic rail journeys are available from Dunedin. "The Seasider" takes passengers from Central Dunedin north to Waitati and Blueskin Bay (90 minutes return), and the "Taireri Gorge Railway" takes passengers from Central Dunedin to Taieri Gorge (4 hours return). There is also the option to travel by train to Middlemarch, which is the end of the rail line.
Cruise ship passengers arriving in to Port Chalmers flock to the station to board these scenic journeys, so ensure that you book in advance. Sit back and relax on a train to see some spectacular New Zealand scenery. See the sights only captured by transportation on a train, through the hills or along the coast.
