Overnight stop suggestions please
( North Island - Visitor Information)
We are travelling from Turangi up to Bay of islands, estimated journey time 8 hours so wanted to have an overnight stop somewhere nice and interesting. We are first time visitors to Ne Zealand so would really appreciate some suggestions of which town. Would prefer somewhere outside of Auckland if possible, maybe a winery. Hope to hear from someone. I personally like Rotorua as there is so much to do there. However if you like wineries you may like to stay in Tauranga. It is not on the direct route so would take you longer travelling overall.
