Travel route
(Canterbury - Kaikoura - Roads)
We are visiting New Zealand in October 2017 and would like to drive along the coast road from Kaikoura to Ward, Seddon, Bleinham then onto Nelson.I understand that the road was closed because of damage but I am hoping that it might now have reopened.Could you please advise me if this would be possible and if not, an alternative route from Kaikoura to Nelson.Thank you

That road will probably not be open till Christmas time. You will need to take the inland route 70 from Kaikoura and then travel up through Arthur's Pass to Nelson.
