I have a few queries relating to transportation1) Can I take luggage on the transalpine train. is there adequate space to keep a couple of 25" bags in the compartments2) Is there a train connection from FranzJoesph or Mt Cook to Te Anau or Queenstown, and if yes--what are the timings

Yes you can take luggage. You would be best to check their website or contact them directly in regards to your spacing question. No their is no train from from Franz or Mt Cook to Te Anau or Queenstown.
