Is the road from Christchurch to Kaikoura fully open 24 hours a day now , I am hoping to visit that part of the coast?

Not fully, part of the road will be closed from Tuesdays to Thursdays on State Highway 1. The inland route is currently closed due to snow. To keep updated please check this website: http://www.journeys.nzta.govt.nz/traffic/
