We wish to take a hire car in Wellington (from the airport in the evening) stay overnight in Wellington and take the ferry to Picton the next day.From there we'd travel down to Dunedin, leaving the car on 4 January.Someone told us that the hire car companies do not allow hire cars on the ferry - is this correct?

As far as I am aware they all allow cars on the ferry, but just check with the company directly before booking.
