When and where to view Southern lights in Stewart Island

Hello. We wish to see the Southern Lights and read that Stewart Island NZ is the best place for this. We (from Europe) will be in Auckland on 10 Sept 2018., and wish to take the opportunity to view the famous Aurora. Kindly advise on Southern Lights. Thanks in advance. lunaly

Regarding the Southern Lights (Aurora Australis), many parts of the South Island would offer favourable vantage points. As for the best, that's hard to answer. It would come down to weather and solar conditions.
