Urgent help NZ Visa and Passport

HiWe are travelling to New Zealand in December 2018 from Australia and my parents are joining from India.Although the travel to NZ, December 2018, they leave India on 9th Nov 2018 for Singapore and then Australia(visas secured for Singapore and Australia)They have applied for NZ Visa on 14th Sep 2018 and till date there hasn’t been any update and most importantly the passports haven’t been returned!We have called the NZ contact number multiple times and waited close to an hour on international calls without moving much in the queue, the wait starts from 50 or so!They have emailed to the address recommended by the support office in Delhi, requesting urgent release of the passports as they travel in 2 weeks time!The visas are meant to come by email, is there anything else that one can do for requesting the urgent release of passports!We are all feeling helpless at the moment , please please any advice is greatly appreciat
