Q
Drive to Fox Glacier from Greymouth in July
(West Coast - Fox Glacier - Transport)
Hello. This is Carrie from HK. I have the following questions:1. My family will go to Greymouth from Christchurch by TranzAlpine in July. Then we will go to Fox Glacier immediately. Is it safe and easy to drive to Fox Glacier in winter (July). Any chance of snowfall?2. Google map shows that the driving duration is about 2.5hrs. But some information in the internet shows that it takes more than 3.5hrs. How long should I drive to Fox Glacier? Can I arrive Fox Glacier before sunset?Thank you for your help.

It should take you roughly 2.5 hours, but it depends on the speed you travel and your stops. For updates on the road conditions you can check out the NZTA website.
There is a chance of snowfall and ice on the road. Chains can be worn on your tires if required.
