Is there an upper age limit for hiring a car in New Zealand?

Not that we are aware of. Rental car companies do have varying policies though, so it would be best to contact the company that you plan to book with. You will need a valid driver's licence, and most companies insist on seeing a drivers licence written in English. If necessary, you can get an International Driver's Licence. .
