Cleddau River

Hi, I work for a tv programme in Wales. I want to find out how the locals of south Island pronounce the word 'Cleddau'. The river runs into Milford Sound, but It is named after a Welsh river where the 'dd' is pronounced like an English 'th'. Thanks and best wishes, Rhodri

Hi Rhodri. I've not heard of the Cleddau River before, but Kiwi's would likely pronounce the Ds as Ds, as we have little or no knowledge of Welsh pronunciation. It would sound a little like the "eadow" in "Meadow".
