Visit Coronet Peak or The Remarkables, just to see the snow

I am in Queenstown during the last week in July. I would like to visit the snowfields during the day for a few hours, just to see the snow and maybe visit the restaurant. what are my options other than self-drive, which I would prefer not to do?
