Hello we are arriving in Wellington NZ on 8th January 2017 at 16.00h and want the quickest method of onward travel to Wanganui . Either plane, train or bus. We have been told that there is no plane now from Wellington to Wanganui but we are not sure about this? If nessesary we are prepared to stay over night in Wellington but we are on a tight budget.

Air New Zealand has ceased flying, but you could fly Air Chathams. It is possible that by Jan 2017 their will be more options for flying as the airport website says a replacement service is currently being negotiated. For bus transport you would need to look on the website or contact one of the nationwide bus and coach companies directly for their timetables.
