Helistar Helicopters
  • Ride in a hot air balloon (with Champagne) over Lake Taupo for two people.
  • Experienced a scenic helicopter flight for two people to Lake Rotokawa.
  • Speed along with a Huka Jet jetboating experience along the Waikato River.
  • And finally rested in luxury accommodation for two people for two nights at The Caboose Taupo Hotel including two breakfasts and dinner for two in the Serengeti Restaurant.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our weekend in Taupo. I would recommend a stay in the Caboose Hotel, it is so luxurious with its African theme, we felt so spoilt. The food there was excellent also. We had so much to do so we got our Huka Jet boat ride out of the way when we got there on Friday. That was a fantastic ride, but not for the faint hearted, we got a little wet in the back seat, but it is definately the best view you can get of the Huka Falls. We were lucky in that the Falls were running at 90% of their capacity the day we were there.

On the Saturday we took our half hour helicopter flight over Taupo, thanks to Helistar heicopters. That was one of the best experiences of my life and such a great way to see Taupo. You see so much you would never see on foot, especially around the thermal areas.

Unfortunately the weather was not right for our hot air balloon ride but the operators have kindly let us keep our voucher for use later on in the year. I can't wait for that!!

Thank-you NZ Tourism Online for a great weekend, and allowing us to experience a few things we could normally not afford ourselves.

Emma Gera

Barbara won two nights of luxury at the romantic Olivers of Clyde in the Smokehouse Suite. The suite contains a large open fire, large two poster bed, candle chandelier and a large bath room with sunken bath and shower. Also included was a dinner for two in Olivers Restaurant.

On October 1st my husband and I travelled to Clyde to stay at Olivers Lodge and Restaurant - a prize we won through NZ Tourism Online.

Olivers has very unique accommodation. All the rooms have been restored and have Central Otago stone wall and treasures of the gold mining days are all around the rooms. Stepping into the rooms was like stepping back in time. We were given a guided tour of all the rooms by friendly staff.

Olivers Restaurant has a great atmosphere, there is a large open fire going, the walls are surrounded by the relics of the goldrush era and we had a thoroughly enjoyable three course meal. A delicious cooked breakfast was served each morning in the large breakfast room and we were able to chat with other guests from New Zealand and all over the world.

I would not hesitate to recommend a stay at Olivers Lodge and Restaurant. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and have great memories of a great place with friendly and courteous staff.

We wish to thank New Zealand Tourism Online for this fabulous weekend at Olivers - it was just wonderful. Thanking you very much.

Kind Regards, Barbara Mitchell

'Experience Queenstown competition'

Bruce and Katarena from Christchurch, New Zealand were the lucky winners of New Zealand Tourism Online's 'Experience Queenstown competition'. They won two nights deluxe accommodation at The Heritage Queenstown and 'catch the canyons' with Shotover Jet. Here is what they had to say...

We totally enjoyed our trip to Queenstown that we won through New Zealand Tourism Online. We stayed at the Heritage Queenstown and the staff there were just fabulous. The facilities there were great--we particularly enjoyed the health club where we could work out in the gym and pop into the spa or sauna afterwards.

Also we would recommend the restaurant at the Heritage. It had a nice atmosphere with delightful cuisine. As for the shotover jet--wow what a buzz! It was an exciting jet boat ride thought the canyons of the Shotover River. The driver was only inches away from the jutting rocks on the rivers edge. And those Hamilton spins really get your heart going.

All in all we had an excellent trip to Queenstown and would recommend it to anyone. Cheers New Zealand Tourism Online!

Bruce and Katarena.
