Historic Olveston House
A grand style of life, rreserved for you to see
Historic Olveston House is located in Dunedin City, in the Otago region of New Zealand.
The historic mansion Olveston was built in 1904 - 1906 for Mr David Theomin and his family. The home was designed by one of the best British domestic architects of the time—parts of the house were actually shipped out from Britain.
Olveston contains furniture and treasures from all around the world.
On the death of Miss Dorothy Theomin in 1966, the 35-room mansion was given to the city.
Today, Olveston offers visitors a glimpse of the lifestyle of a well-to-do family at the time of the Great War. The house and contents have been little altered since the 1906 to 1926 period.
Guided tours of Olveston House are available. Bookings are essential.
Olveston House is open 364 days a year, and on Christmas by prior arrangement.
