Active Adventures New Zealand offer fully guided small group active adventure tours to hike, paddle and bike in New Zealand's wildest locations.

We offer a number of different New Zealand adventure tours with plenty of options to suit. You'll push yourself a little, or a lot, hiking with our legendary guides and a few like-minded travellers to experience our beautiful country's natural attractions and little-known gems along the way. We'll minimize the time spent in a vehicle, and spend it on adventure and relaxation.

You'll have two guides, including a chef/co-guide, taking exceptional care of you and you'll sleep well in comfortable lodges in some fantastic locations.

Our New Zealand Adventure Tours

Our New Zealand trips/tours are designed for active people with a reasonable level of fitness and interest in outdoor activities. If you like to walk, run, hike, paddle, cycle or go to the gym, you'll love our New Zealand tours. Two guides per trip means there's plenty of flexibility to go at your own pace.

Our well-trained guides and top-notch equipment ensure that even if you have never been kayaking or backpacking before, you'll really enjoy discovering the outdoors with us in New Zealand. We'll take you into some of the most pristine and secluded areas of New Zealand. We'll share some simply stunning hikes in our favourite national parks and the sea kayaking on our New Zealand adventure tours is suitable for absolute beginners as well as seasoned veterans. If you have a particular interest, such as mountain biking, let us know and we'll make it happen.

Rimu – Ultimate New Zealand Adventure. Our 14-day adventure tour is our signature trip and our most active itinerary packed with hiking, biking and sea kayaking. The 'Rimu' made it into the National Geographic Traveler Magazine's '50 Tours of a Lifetime 2015' awards.

Winter Rimu – New Zealand Winter Adventure. May to September is one of the best times to explore New Zealand and experience the scenery at its most dramatic, with options to ski or snowboard.

Kiwi – New Zealand Explorer. New to adventure vacations or not quite ready to hang up your hiking boots just yet? Experience beautiful, famous and little-known places in the South Island – taking plenty of time to explore each iconic location – on this 14-day New Zealand tour.

Tui – Essence of the South Island. Our 8-day 'Tui' adventure is an action-packed adventure where you'll hike, bike, kayak, fly and jet boat in some of New Zealand's most iconic and remote wilderness.

Manuka – Milford Hiking Adventure. Hike New Zealand in style, including the famed Milford Track Guided Walk, on this 14-day hiking tour.

Kea – New Zealand Family Adventure. Let us take care of every detail so that you and your family can enjoy exploring New Zealand's iconic places on a fun outdoorsy adventure.

Kauri – Ultimate North Island Adventure. You'll be amazed by the variety of adventures and stunning scenery you'll pack into just 11 days. We'll share the iconic locations and best-kept secrets of New Zealand's North Island in one of National Geographic Traveler magazine's '50 Tours of a Lifetime 2013'. (A 5-day option is available to add to one of our South Island adventures.)

Takahe – Great Walks Discovery. Over five days you'll hike on three of New Zealand's nine 'Great Walks', all located in the Fiordland National Park - a UNESCO World Heritage area with mystical coves and dense temperate rainforest.

Weka – New Zealand Biking Adventure. Combine the very best of New Zealand's cycling and hiking trails into an action-packed two week adventure vacation.

Matai – The 'Matai' trip is focused on one of the most stunning regions of New Zealand's South Island, Central Otago. Surrounded by gigantic lakes and breathtaking peaks, our destinations on this adventure are in fairly close proximity to one another, which allows us to slow the pace a little, and enjoy the finer things in life as we explore off-the-beaten-track New Zealand.

Kotuku – This is exploring the most spectacular parts of New Zealand in luxurious style. Simple. 13 days of breathtaking walks, cultural experiences, conservation projects, delicious wine, and some of the world's best local fare.

Koru – If you're short on time, and are looking for a multi-sport adventure all based in one beautiful spot, this is the trip for you. Glenorchy is a quiet hamlet only around 45 minutes' drive from bustling Queenstown.

Nikau – Short on time? The 'Nikau' adventure takes you to New Zealand's 'wine island', as well as for a traditional Maori experience, to explore a thermal wonderland, and to one of the most impressive conservation projects on the planet. Extend this trip to add 7 days on the South Island by choosing our 'Kotuku' adventure.
