Waitangi Nature and Eco Tourism
The Waitangi Treaty Grounds is the scene of the 1840 signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, and is a must-do for any visitor.
Truly one of New Zealand’s most historic sites, being the place where both Maori and European joined in signing the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840. A vast peaceful estate, the Treaty Grounds contain the Treaty House, a Maori Meeting house, one of the largest Maori waka (war canoe) in New Zealand, a gallery and an excellent visitors’ centre.
