Lyttelton Nature and Eco Tourism
Lyttelton is the South Island's principle deep water port and is located 12 from Christchurch by a tunnel under the Port Hills. Lyttelton was badly damaged by the 2011 Christchurch Earthquakes and many of its historical buildings were destroyed. Lyttelton remains a beautiful port town with stunning views of the Lyttelton Harbour and the surrounding hills. Lyttelton Harbour itself as well as the surrounding Port Hills and Banks Peninsula were formed by ancient volcanoes.
Mobile-friendly - Explore Lyttelton Harbour with Black Cat Cruises. We offer ferry services to Quail Island and Diamond Harbour. Spend half the day walking and learning about the history of Quail Island, or take a trip to Diamond Harbour for swimming, visiting the farmers market or enjoying a picnic. Private charters also available.
Mobile-friendly - Guided 1-day walk on Banks Peninsula, a spectacular extinct volcano within 30 minutes of Christchurch. Experience the world-class views and enjoy a days' walk with our experienced local guides. If you are short on time, a half-day guided walk on Banks Peninsula is for you.
