Okarito and Whataroa are small settlements located on the West Coast of New Zealand. Okarito is a small coastal settlement surrounded by the Okarito Lagoon, New Zealand's largest unmodified wetland. Whataroa rests on the southern banks of the Whataroa River. Both towns are surrounded by native forestry. Te Taho village is just a short drive from Whataroa.
