Lake Wakatipu
Lake Wakatipu is an inland lake in the South Island of New Zealand, most famous for the town of Queenstown which is nestled on its shores. Lake Wakatipu is surrounded by majestic mountains - including the Remarkables with its popular ski field, and is one of the scenic highlights of the Queenstown region. A popular location for watersports, the lake also offers a number of tramping tracks and has been used as a location for a number of films including The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. more
Cruising Lake Wakatipu on the TSS Earnslaw is a great way to see the lake. The cruise departs from Queenstown and ends at Walter Peak High Country Farm, where visitors can enjoy farm tours, horse treks, heritage tours and more.
